Testimony
Not an argument. Just the thing itself, said plainly.
What this is
In this Church a testimony is not a summary of doctrine and it is not evidence. It is one person saying what they have come to know, and being willing to be wrong in public about something that matters to them.
People give them out loud, usually on the first Sunday of the month, usually without notes. What follows is Tanner’s, written down.
In his own words Alma 5:46
Behold, I say unto you they are made known unto me by the Holy Spirit of God. Behold, I have fasted and prayed many days that I might know these things of myself. And now I do know of myself that they are true; for the Lord God hath made them manifest unto me by his Holy Spirit; and this is the spirit of revelation which is in me.
Alma 5:46
What would you like here?
If it is true, it is worth finding out for yourself. If it is not, nothing is lost by asking.
How you would find out Moroni 10:4
And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
Moroni 10:4
